ZIZA Lung Flush Tea – What You Are Buying
ZIZA Lung Flush Tea is a Chinese herbal tea blend of green tea, chrysanthemum, Ophiopogon japonicus, monk fruit, balloon flower and mint, sold as 20 tea bags at 2g each, net weight 40g (1.4oz). It brews into a light, floral cup, naturally sweet from the monk fruit with a cooling finish from the mint — and because green tea leads the ingredient list, it is not a caffeine-free tea. The carton states “Product of China” and names OMA Foods Limited, Lagos as the West African distributor. No NAFDAC registration number is printed on the panels we photographed, so none is quoted here.
This is an herbal tea and a food product, not a medicine. The name is the manufacturer’s product name, not a description of an effect.
Recs-Medix has stocked herbal products since 2017 from stores in Lagos and Abuja. This tea ships nationwide and worldwide by DHL Express. Browse our tea and coffee range or the wider Lungs and Respiratory shelf.
What Is Inside Each Tea Bag
The pack lists its six ingredients by name only, with no percentages, no per-bag weights and no plant parts, so we cannot tell you how much of each herb is in a 2g bag.
| Exactly as printed on the pack | Accepted botanical and common name | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Green tea | Camellia sinensis, unfermented leaf | Contains caffeine |
| Chrysanthemum | Chrysanthemum species — the flower used in Chinese chrysanthemum tea | Species not printed |
| Ophiiopogon Japonicus | Ophiopogon japonicus, dwarf lilyturf; mai dong in Chinese herbal practice | Pack spelling carries an extra “i”; plant part not printed |
| Monk Fruit | Siraitia grosvenorii, luo han guo | Naturally sweet; widely used as a sugar-free sweetener |
| Balloon Flower | Platycodon grandiflorus, jie geng | Species not printed |
| Mint | Mentha species | Species not printed |
What the Name Does and Does Not Mean
“Lung Flush” is the manufacturer’s product name. No tea removes tar, mucus or pollution from lung tissue, and this one does not either. Lungs are self-cleaning: mucus traps dust and particles, and tiny hairs called cilia sweep it up and out of the airways. The American Lung Association addresses lung detox products directly, naming teas among them, and its position is that lungs begin to heal themselves once they are no longer exposed to pollutants — the route it recommends is stopping smoking, cleaner air, good food and exercise, not a product.
The same applies to the related question about green tea and lung repair. Green tea supplies polyphenols, but nothing establishes that drinking it repairs lung tissue. What a hot drink genuinely does is keep you hydrated, and thinner mucus is easier for your body to shift, which is why a warm cup feels comforting when your chest or nose is blocked. That is comfort, not cure.
What This Tea Does Give You
- A hot, sugar-free drink that adds to your daily fluid intake
- Naturally sweet from monk fruit, with no sugar or artificial sweetener listed
- Green tea polyphenols, the same compounds present in any green tea
- A cooling, floral cup from the chrysanthemum and mint, and a caffeine lift lighter than coffee
- Six ingredients, all named on the pack — nothing hidden behind a “proprietary blend”
Results vary between individuals.
It Contains Caffeine — Check This Before You Buy
Almost every tea sold for the lungs is marketed as caffeine-free. This one is not. Green tea leads the ingredient list, and green tea is Camellia sinensis — the same plant as black tea. The carton prints no caffeine figure, so we will not quote one, but the caffeine is there. A late cup may keep you awake if you are sensitive to it, it adds to whatever coffee or black tea you already drink, and if you are pregnant or breastfeeding it is worth discussing with your midwife or doctor first. The upside is a mild morning lift — as long as you know it is coming.
How to Brew ZIZA Lung Flush Tea
Printed on the carton:
- Place one tea bag in a cup with boiling water
- Allow it to brew for 5 to 8 minutes
- Drink 2 bags per day
- The pack adds that “for better results, you can drink 6 bags per day”
Our guidance, which is ours and not the manufacturer’s: start at two bags a day and stay there. Six bags means six cups of a caffeinated tea in one day — a lot for anyone caffeine-sensitive — and it does not make the tea work harder. If you do drink more, keep the later cups away from bedtime.
Storage as printed: cool, dry place away from sunlight; once opened, keep the bags in an airtight container. Check the date printed on your own pack before use.

Before You Drink It
The pack says children under 12, breastfeeding mothers and pregnant women should be careful with herbs they might be allergic to, and prints no other cautions — a label’s silence is not evidence of safety. Speak to a doctor or pharmacist first if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, taking prescription medicine, living with a diagnosed lung condition, sensitive to caffeine, or have a known plant allergy. Recs-Medix supplies this product to adults aged 18 and over — our policy, not a statement from the label. Ask a doctor before giving any herbal tea to a child.
See a doctor rather than reaching for tea if you have a cough that persists or is getting worse, cough up blood, have chest pain, fever, wheezing, or any difficulty breathing. In Nigeria a cough that will not settle is a reason to be screened for tuberculosis. If you have been prescribed an inhaler or other chest medicine, keep taking it exactly as directed.

Frequently Asked Questions
What ingredients are listed, and how many tea bags do you get?
Green tea, chrysanthemum, Ophiopogon japonicus, monk fruit, balloon flower and mint. Each carton holds 20 tea bags of 2g, a net weight of 40g. No quantities or percentages are printed for the individual herbs.
Does the name mean it cleans the lungs?
No. “Lung Flush” is the manufacturer’s product name, not a description of an effect. Lungs clean themselves, and no tea removes tar or mucus from lung tissue.
Does it contain caffeine?
Yes. Green tea is the first ingredient listed, so this is not a caffeine-free tea. The carton does not state how much caffeine is in a bag, so we cannot give a figure.
How long does one carton last?
At the label’s two bags a day, a 20-bag carton lasts 10 days. At six bags a day it would last just over three.
Who should get professional advice before drinking it?
Anyone pregnant or breastfeeding, taking prescription medicine, living with a diagnosed lung condition, sensitive to caffeine, or with a known plant allergy. Ask a doctor before giving any herbal tea to a child.
Does it have a NAFDAC number?
No NAFDAC number appears on the carton panels we photographed. Imported foods sold in Nigeria must be registered with NAFDAC, so we have asked the distributor for the registration details and will publish the number here once confirmed.
Can you deliver it outside Nigeria?
Yes. We ship worldwide by DHL Express — usually 3 to 5 business days to the USA, UK, Canada, EU and Australia.
ZIZA Lung Flush Tea is an herbal beverage, not a medicine, and is not intended to diagnose, treat or cure any disease. If you have symptoms affecting your breathing, see a qualified healthcare professional.
