What Is Kasly Red Yeast Tablet?

Kasly Red Yeast Tablet is a fermented red yeast rice supplement, supplied as 650 mg × 60 tablets in a factory-sealed bottle. It carries NAFDAC registration number A7-0513L and is marketed in Nigeria by Kasly Health (Nigeria) Co., Ltd of Ikeja, Lagos. Recs-Medix has been an authorised distributor of the Tasly Kasly range in Nigeria since 2017.

Red yeast rice is rice fermented with Monascus purpureus — known in China as Hong Qu, where it has been used for centuries as a food and a food colouring. This product presents it as a pressed 650 mg tablet rather than a loose powder or a tea, so each dose is measured for you, the bottle travels easily, and a sealed pack of 60 lasts 15 days at the stated directions.

Current packaging carries the Kasly name. Older stock and some export markets carry the Tasly name, which is why customers search for this product both ways. Our guide to Kasly and Tasly branding sets out how the two names are used across the range. This product is listed in our Cholesterol Support range.

This is a dietary supplement, not a medicine. It is intended to support general health and wellbeing, not to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. Red yeast rice should be taken under the supervision of a doctor or pharmacist, for the reasons set out below.

How Do You Take Kasly Red Yeast Tablet?

Take 2 tablets twice daily, after meals. That is 4 tablets a day in total, and you should not take more than that. One 60-tablet bottle therefore covers 15 days at the full daily amount.

Speak to your doctor or pharmacist before your first tablet, not after it — particularly if you take any prescription medicine. Ask them again before continuing beyond a few weeks. Results vary between individuals. Supplements are intended to support a healthy diet and lifestyle, not to replace them.

What Is Red Yeast Rice, and What Should You Know Before Taking It?

Fermentation produces a family of compounds called monacolins. Monacolin K has the same chemical structure as lovastatin, a prescription statin medicine. Monacolin levels vary substantially between red yeast rice products from different producers, and the monacolin content of these tablets is not declared. Treat the product with the same caution you would give a statin, and take the pack with you when you speak to your doctor or pharmacist so they can see exactly what you intend to take.

The European Food Safety Authority reviewed monacolins from red yeast rice and could not establish a daily intake that would be safe for the general population. The European Union restricts monacolins in food supplements to below 3 mg per daily portion under Commission Regulation (EU) 2024/2041 and its predecessor, and in 2024 removed the cholesterol health claim previously permitted for monacolin K. No health claim is authorised for red yeast rice in the EU or the UK. These statements have not been evaluated by the FDA. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.

Who Is Kasly Red Yeast Tablet For?

This product is for adults who have discussed red yeast rice with a healthcare professional and want a NAFDAC-registered supply with a named manufacturer and a named Nigerian marketer printed on the pack.

  • Adults advised by their own doctor or pharmacist that a red yeast rice supplement is appropriate for them
  • Adults already familiar with red yeast rice who want a traceable, registered source rather than an unidentified import
  • Existing customers of the Tasly Kasly range restocking a product they already use
  • Customers who want to check a registration number and an expiry date before taking the first tablet

It is for adults only. Recs-Medix supplies this product to customers aged 18 and over.

Who Should Not Take Red Yeast Rice, and What Does It Interact With?

Do not take this product if any of the following apply to you.

  • You are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding. Statins and statin-like compounds are not used in pregnancy.
  • You already take a statin — atorvastatin, simvastatin, rosuvastatin, lovastatin or any other — or another prescribed lipid-lowering medicine.
  • You have liver disease, raised liver enzymes or a history of liver problems, or you drink heavily.
  • You have kidney disease or a history of muscle disorders.
  • You are under 18. The manufacturer states the product is not for children under 12; Recs-Medix supplies it to adults aged 18 and over.
  • You are allergic to rice, yeast or moulds.
  • You are due to have surgery. Tell your surgeon and anaesthetist about every supplement you take.

Monacolins are cleared by the same liver enzyme pathway as lovastatin, so anything that slows that pathway can raise the amount circulating in the body. Check with a pharmacist before combining this product with:

  • statins, fibrates such as gemfibrozil, and high-dose niacin
  • grapefruit and grapefruit juice
  • warfarin and other anticoagulants
  • certain antibiotics and antifungals, including erythromycin, clarithromycin, itraconazole and ketoconazole
  • ciclosporin and other immunosuppressants, and HIV protease inhibitors
  • St John’s wort, alcohol, and any medicine, herb or supplement that affects the liver

If you have high cholesterol, heart disease, diabetes or any long-term condition, or you take any prescription medicine, speak to your doctor or pharmacist before using this product, and include it on any medicines list you give at a hospital or clinic.

What Are the Side Effects of Red Yeast Tablets?

Red yeast rice can cause side effects similar to those of a statin. Any claim that a red yeast rice product has no side effects is false, whoever makes it. Reported effects, summarised by the US National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health, include muscle pain, tenderness, cramping or weakness; effects on the liver; digestive upset such as heartburn, bloating, wind, stomach discomfort or nausea; headache; and dizziness.

Stop taking the tablets and seek medical advice promptly if you develop muscle symptoms. Muscle symptoms together with dark urine, or yellowing of the skin or eyes, unusual tiredness or pain under the right ribs, need immediate medical attention. Citrinin, a mould by-product that is harmful to the kidneys, can form during Monascus fermentation and is a recognised quality risk across the red yeast rice category generally. Stop taking the product and consult a doctor if you develop any unexplained symptom while using it.

What This Product Does Not Do

  • It is not a medicine and does not treat, cure or prevent high cholesterol, heart disease, stroke, atherosclerosis or any other condition.
  • It does not replace a statin or any other prescribed medicine. Never stop, reduce or skip prescribed medicine in order to take it.
  • It does not guarantee any change in a cholesterol, triglyceride or lipid reading.
  • It is not free of side effects, and it is not automatically safer than a prescription medicine because it is fermented from rice.
  • It does not replace a balanced diet, physical activity, or regular review with your doctor.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Kasly Red Yeast Tablet the same as Tasly Red Yeast Tablet?

Current packaging carries the Kasly name, and older stock and some export markets carry the Tasly name, so customers search for it both ways. The pack you receive will show the name printed on the stock we hold at the time of your order. If you need a specific pack version, tell us before you order and we can check what is available.

How much does Kasly Red Yeast Tablet cost in Nigeria?

The current price is shown at the top of this page and updates automatically. Use the currency selector to view it in naira, US dollars, pounds, euros or CFA francs. Payment on Delivery is available nationwide in Nigeria, so you can pay when the product reaches you.

When is the best time of day to take red yeast tablets?

The directions are 2 tablets after your morning meal and 2 tablets after your evening meal. Taking them after food rather than on an empty stomach is what the directions specify. Keeping to the same two times each day makes the routine easier to follow.

Can I take Kasly Red Yeast Tablet with my statin?

No. Do not combine it with atorvastatin, simvastatin, rosuvastatin or any other statin unless your own doctor has specifically told you to, because the risk of muscle and liver injury rises. Equally, do not stop a prescribed statin in order to take this product. Ask your doctor or pharmacist first.

How long does one bottle of 60 tablets last?

Fifteen days at the full daily amount of 4 tablets, calculated from the directions on the pack. How long you should take it for is a question for your doctor or pharmacist rather than a fixed course length.

How quickly will my order arrive?

Lagos and Abuja orders placed early in the day can be delivered the same day. Elsewhere in Nigeria we despatch by DHL Express with Payment on Delivery available. For delivery outside Nigeria, contact us before ordering and we will check the options available for your country.
