What is NeoLife PhytoDefence, and what is it used for?
NeoLife PhytoDefence is an antioxidant and immune support supplement for adults, supplied as 30 daily sachets. Each sachet holds three Carotenoid Complex capsules, two Flavonoid Complex tablets and one Cruciferous Plus tablet, and supplies 100 mg of vitamin C, which contributes to the normal function of the immune system and to the protection of cells from oxidative stress.
As a daily antioxidant supplement it belongs with the broad formulas rather than the single-nutrient ones, and it sits in our essential vitamins and minerals range. The same 100 mg of vitamin C contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue and to normal energy-yielding metabolism, so one sachet covers immune support and everyday nutritional support together.
NeoLife’s own description of the pack is “the broad Phytonutrient protection of 6 optimal servings of selected fruits and vegetables in one convenient pack, with NeoLife’s exclusive Carotenoid Complex”. The three complexes are supplied together in one sachet as a single daily unit: carotenoids in an oil base, flavonoids and crucifers as tablets.
The product is made for NeoLife International Ltd, Lagos, Nigeria by Natural Formulas, 2125 American Ave., Hayward, CA, USA, and carries NAFDAC Registration Number A7-1198. Recs-Medix has been an authorised distributor of NeoLife products in Nigeria since 2017, and every pack we dispatch comes through that authorised supply route. This formula contains soya, cranberry extract and added beta-carotene, and the precautions section below sets out who should check with a doctor first.
You can see the wider range on our NeoLife brand page.
This is a dietary supplement, not a medicine. It is intended to support general health and wellbeing, not to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.
How does a phytonutrient supplement support daily antioxidant and immune defence?
Fruits and vegetables carry two broad families of plant compounds: fat-soluble ones such as carotenoids, and water-soluble ones such as flavonoids. PhytoDefence supplies both in one sachet, together with cruciferous vegetable compounds and 100 mg of vitamin C, so the daily dose spans several plant groups rather than one.
Each sachet supplies 100 mg of vitamin C, which is 125% of the EU nutrient reference value. That is the component with a declared quantity, and it is what the benefits listed in the next section are stated for.
The carotenoids, flavonoids and cruciferous compounds are supplied as whole-food concentrates and extracts. Each of the three ingredient lists is set out in full further down this page.
Why the carotenoids are supplied in an oil base
Carotenoids are fat-soluble. NeoLife supplies them in a base of pure olive oil inside a softgel capsule, and directs that the sachet is taken with food. Taking it with a meal that contains some fat is the practical way to follow that direction.
What are the key benefits of NeoLife PhytoDefence?
Each sachet supplies 100 mg of vitamin C. These are the nutrient functions it contributes to, alongside the whole-food plant concentrates in the three complexes.
- Contributes to the normal function of the immune system
- Contributes to the protection of cells from oxidative stress
- Contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue
- Contributes to normal energy-yielding metabolism
- Contributes to normal collagen formation for the normal function of skin, gums, teeth, bones, cartilage and blood vessels
- Contributes to the normal functioning of the nervous system and to normal psychological function
- Increases iron absorption from the food you eat with it
- Contributes to the regeneration of the reduced form of vitamin E
- Supplies whole-food carotenoids, flavonoids and cruciferous compounds in one daily sachet, in NeoLife’s stated “3-2-1” format
These statements have not been evaluated by the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC). This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease.
What is in each PhytoDefence sachet?
One sachet contains six units in three groups. Each group is a separate NeoLife formulation with its own ingredient list, set out below.
3 × Carotenoid Complex — brown softgel capsules
The brown softgels declare a broad carotenoid range: alpha, beta, gamma, zeta and cis-beta carotene, lycopene and cis-lycopene, lutein, alpha-cryptoxanthin and beta-cryptoxanthin, and zeaxanthin, in a base of pure olive oil. NeoLife states that they are manufactured using its NutriMax Process.
Contains: NeoLife’s exclusive Carotenoid Complex (red bell pepper extract, carrot extract, strawberry concentrate, apricot concentrate, peach concentrate, tomato extract, spinach extract, marigold extract), beta carotene, alpha carotene, lycopene, lutein, zeaxanthin, D-alpha-tocopherol, olive oil.
2 × Flavonoid Complex — purple tablets
NeoLife describes each purple tablet as providing “water-soluble antioxidant diversity from a broad flavonoid spectrum of fruit and vegetable extracts and concentrates”, including catechins, anthocyanins, proanthocyanidins, flavones, flavanones, flavonols and ellagic acid. Each tablet declares 50 mg of vitamin C, and two tablets are supplied per sachet, which is where the day’s 100 mg comes from.
Contains: NeoLife’s exclusive Flavonoid Complex (cranberry extract, kale concentrate, green tea extract, beet concentrate, mixed berry extract, red and black grape extract, orange extract, lemon extract and grapefruit extract), vitamin C.
1 × Cruciferous Plus — light green tablet
NeoLife describes the light green tablet as providing “the phytonutrient profile of an optimal serving of cruciferous vegetables”. Its declared bioactive constituents are isothiocyanates, sulforaphane and indole carbinols, plus D-limonene from oranges, chalcones from liquorice root and isoflavones from soya, including genistein.
Contains: NeoLife’s exclusive Cruciferous Vegetable Blend (extracts of broccoli, radish, kale, black mustard and concentrates of brown mustard and watercress), orange extract and deglycyrrhizinated liquorice root extract in a base of high-isoflavone soya milk concentrate.
Allergen information: this formula contains soya. Anyone with a soya allergy should not take it.
What are the supplement facts for NeoLife PhytoDefence?
Supplement facts are given per sachet, which is the full daily dose. The percentage shown in the third column is stated for individuals four years of age and older.
| Item | Per sachet | % NRV as printed on pack | % EU NRV |
|---|---|---|---|
| Serving size | 1 sachet | — | — |
| Servings per pack | 30 | — | — |
| Carotenoid Complex capsules | 3 | — | — |
| Flavonoid Complex tablets | 2 | — | — |
| Cruciferous Plus tablet | 1 | — | — |
| Vitamin C | 100 mg | 100% | 125% (EU NRV 80 mg) |
Vitamin C is the only nutrient with a declared quantity on this pack. The remaining components are declared by name in the three ingredient lists above.
How 100 mg of vitamin C compares across the markets we ship to
| Reference | Adult figure | One PhytoDefence sachet |
|---|---|---|
| EU and GB nutrient reference value (labelling) | 80 mg/day | 125% |
| UK reference nutrient intake | 40 mg/day | 250% |
| US and Canada recommended dietary allowance | 90 mg men, 75 mg women | 111% / 133% |
| Australia and New Zealand recommended dietary intake | 45 mg/day | 222% |
| US and Canada tolerable upper intake level | 2,000 mg/day | 5% |
Right-hand column calculated from 100 mg per sachet. The NHS notes that taking more than 1,000 mg of vitamin C a day can cause stomach pain, diarrhoea and flatulence; one sachet is well below that.
How do you take NeoLife PhytoDefence?
NeoLife’s direction is one sachet daily with food. The sachet is the serving, so there is nothing to measure or divide: one sachet contains three Carotenoid Complex capsules, two Flavonoid Complex tablets and one Cruciferous Plus tablet, and those six units are the full daily dose.
Directions on the pack
- 1 sachet daily with food
- 1 sachet contains 3 Carotenoid Complex capsules, 2 Flavonoid Complex tablets and 1 Cruciferous Plus tablet
Practical suggestions from Recs-Medix
- Swallow the units with a full glass of water
- Carotenoids are fat-soluble, so a meal containing some fat suits the oil-based capsules
- One 30-sachet pack is a 30-day supply at this dose
- Do not exceed the stated daily dose unless a healthcare professional advises otherwise
How do you get the best from a daily phytonutrient pack?
Consistency matters more than timing. Choose the meal you never skip — for most people breakfast or lunch — and attach the sachet to it, because the sachet format only helps if the pack travels with you. NeoLife’s own packaging suggests carrying a day’s supply in a pocket, jacket, purse or briefcase, and taking an extra supply on trips.
- Take it at the same meal each day; one pack is a 30-day course at the directed dose
- Keep eating fruit and vegetables — this is a supplement to that diet, not a replacement for it
- Store the box away from heat and light so the softgels stay intact (see storage below)
- Check the other supplements you take, so you are not doubling up on the same complexes
Results vary between individuals. Supplements are intended to support a healthy diet and lifestyle, not to replace them.
Who is NeoLife PhytoDefence suitable for?
This pack suits adults who want an antioxidant supplement in a single daily unit and who find a sachet easier to keep up with than several bottles. It is a general daily-wellness product rather than a targeted one.
- Adults who eat fewer fruits and vegetables than they would like and want daily nutritional support with meals
- People who prefer whole-food-sourced carotenoids and flavonoids to isolated single nutrients, including busy professionals and frequent travellers who need a portable daily supplement
- Adults looking for an immune support supplement built on vitamin C
- Existing NeoLife customers building a daily routine around one core pack
Who should avoid PhytoDefence or check with a doctor first?
Three of the declared ingredients — added beta-carotene, cranberry extract and soya — have specific implications for particular groups, and they are set out individually below.
Smokers
Smokers should avoid this product. In its 2024 opinion on preformed vitamin A and beta-carotene, the EFSA Panel on Nutrition, Novel Foods and Food Allergens concluded that lung cancer risk is the critical effect of excess supplemental beta-carotene, was unable to establish a tolerable upper intake level, and stated that smokers should avoid consuming food supplements containing beta-carotene. That advice is not qualified by dose. PhytoDefence declares beta carotene and alpha carotene among its carotenoid capsule ingredients, so the advice applies to this product. The same panel advised that supplemental beta-carotene use by the general population should be limited to meeting vitamin A requirements. If you smoke, speak to your doctor before taking any beta-carotene supplement.
Anyone taking warfarin or another anticoagulant
Do not start this product without speaking to your anticoagulant clinic, doctor or pharmacist. The formula contains cranberry extract, green tea extract, and concentrates of kale, spinach, broccoli and watercress. NHS guidance is that people taking warfarin should tell their doctor about any vitamins or supplements they take, and that foods high in vitamin K such as broccoli, spinach and other green leafy vegetables can affect how warfarin works. NHS trust dietary advice for warfarin patients also advises avoiding cranberry products, including capsules and concentrates. This is a decision for the clinician who manages your INR, not one to make from a product page.
People with a soya allergy, and people with hormone-sensitive conditions
The Cruciferous Plus tablet is made in a base of high-isoflavone soya milk concentrate and provides isoflavones including genistein. If you are allergic to soya, do not take this product. If you have a hormone-sensitive condition or you are taking hormone therapy, discuss the soya isoflavone content with your doctor before starting.
People with a thyroid condition, or taking thyroid medication
Speak to your prescriber first. This formula combines soya with concentrates of several cruciferous vegetables, and the timing of thyroid medication in relation to soya-containing products is something your prescriber should advise on.
People with high blood pressure, or taking blood-pressure or potassium-affecting medication
Check with your pharmacist before starting. The Cruciferous Plus tablet contains liquorice root extract, given on the current pack as the deglycyrrhizinated form. If you have high blood pressure or low potassium, or you take medication for either, ask your pharmacist about this or any liquorice-containing supplement before you begin.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
Consult your doctor or midwife before taking PhytoDefence if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding. The formula supplies concentrated botanical extracts, added carotenoids and soya isoflavones, and supplement decisions during pregnancy should be made with a clinician who knows your full nutrition.
Children
The directions give a single daily sachet and no smaller dose, so there is no children’s serving on this product. Keep it out of reach of children. A sachet also contains six separate capsules and tablets to swallow. Speak to a paediatrician before giving any adult supplement to a child.
People taking other supplements from the same range
Check the labels before stacking. Cruciferous Plus is sold separately and is one of the three units inside this sachet, so taking both means two cruciferous tablets a day. Pro Vitality+ contains Carotenoid Complex, and NeoLife Beta Guard contains beta-carotene, so both overlap with the carotenoid capsules here. Combining any of these is a conversation for your pharmacist.
Everyone else who should ask first
- Anyone taking prescription medication of any kind — check with your pharmacist or GP
- Anyone with a chronic medical condition, including liver or kidney conditions
- Anyone with a known allergy to any ingredient in this formula
- Anyone due to have surgery — tell your surgical team what supplements you take
Stop taking this product and seek medical advice if you develop any reaction after starting it.
These statements have not been evaluated by the FDA. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.
What does NeoLife PhytoDefence not do?
It is not a medicine and it does not replace prescription medication. It does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease.
- It does not treat, cure or prevent cancer, heart disease, infections or any other named condition
- It does not produce a guaranteed result, or a measurable percentage change in immune capacity or any other bodily function
- It is not free of side effects — any claim that it has none is untrue
- It does not deliver instant results, and it does not replace eating fruit and vegetables
How should you store PhytoDefence?
Store in a cool, dry place below 25°C and protect from light. Keep unused sachets in the outer box rather than loose in a drawer.
- Keep below 25°C, away from direct sunlight and heat sources
- Do not store in a bathroom or anywhere humid — softgel capsules are sensitive to moisture
- Keep sachets sealed until the day you take them
- Keep out of reach of children
- Check the expiry date on the pack before use
How do you know your PhytoDefence is genuine, and what will you receive?
You will receive one factory-sealed NeoLife PhytoDefence box containing 30 sachets, labelled Nutritional Supplement, with the green NeoLife Nutritionals logo on a white pack and a photograph of fruits and vegetables on the front panel. The back panel carries the “As easy as 3-2-1 PhytoDefence!” ingredient panel, the suggested use, and NAFDAC Registration Number A7-1198.
Check three things when your pack arrives: that the outer shrink wrap is intact, that the lot number and the manufacture and expiry dates are printed on the side panel, and that the NAFDAC number on the back reads A7-1198.
The pack also states “NOT SOLD IN RETAIL STORES. Available Exclusively from NeoLife Distributors.” That is NeoLife’s distribution model, not a sign that something is wrong with your pack. NeoLife supplies through authorised distributors rather than through general retail. If anything about your pack looks different from the description above, contact us and we can check it against our supply records for you.
A NAFDAC registration number is a Nigerian registration. It does not mean the product is registered or authorised by the regulator in any other country we ship to.

Which other supplements work alongside PhytoDefence?
Neither of the two products below repeats a complex found in this sachet. Whether any combination of supplements suits you personally is a question for your pharmacist. Products that do share ingredients with PhytoDefence are named in the precautions section above instead.
- NeoLife Tre-en-en Grain Concentrates — lipid and sterol nutrition from whole grains, a different nutrient class
- NeoLife Omega-3 Salmon Oil Plus — marine omega-3 fatty acids, declaring no carotenoid, flavonoid or cruciferous content
For single-nutrient options rather than a broad daily pack, browse targeted nutrients.
Frequently asked questions about NeoLife PhytoDefence
What is NeoLife PhytoDefence used for?
It is taken as a daily food supplement, one sachet with food, supplying whole-food carotenoids, flavonoids and cruciferous compounds plus 100 mg of vitamin C for immune function and protection of cells from oxidative stress.
Is it spelled PhytoDefence or PhytoDefense?
Both spellings refer to the same NeoLife product. The pack sold in Nigeria uses the British spelling, PhytoDefence, and that is what is printed on the box you will receive from us. NeoLife’s US material uses PhytoDefense. Item numbers also differ by market, so a number quoted on an American site will not always match the Nigerian pack.
Does NeoLife PhytoDefence support skin health?
The vitamin C in each sachet contributes to normal collagen formation, which supports the normal function of skin, and it contributes to the protection of cells from oxidative stress. That is a nutritional contribution to skin structure, not a cosmetic or anti-ageing treatment, and it will not change skin tone or texture on its own.
What is the PhytoDefence dosage?
One sachet daily with food. Each sachet contains three Carotenoid Complex capsules, two Flavonoid Complex tablets and one Cruciferous Plus tablet, and all six are taken together as one dose. A 30-sachet pack lasts 30 days at this dose.
Does PhytoDefence have side effects?
Any supplement can cause a reaction in some people, and this one contains soya, cranberry extract, green tea extract, liquorice root extract and added beta-carotene. Smokers should avoid beta-carotene supplements on EFSA advice, and anyone on warfarin should speak to their clinic before taking it. Read the precautions section above in full, and stop taking it and seek medical advice if you react to it.
Can you take PhytoDefence every day?
The pack directs one sachet daily with food, which is a daily dose. Whether continuous daily use suits you personally depends on your health, your medication and the other supplements you take, so raise it with your pharmacist or GP if you have any of those to consider.
Does PhytoDefence contain caffeine?
The Flavonoid Complex tablets contain green tea extract. NeoLife’s own product literature describes the green tea used in the Flavonoid Complex as decaffeinated. If caffeine sensitivity is a concern for you, contact our support team and we can check the available product information for you.
Is PhytoDefence suitable for vegetarians or vegans?
The three ingredient lists name plant sources and olive oil. If you follow a vegetarian or vegan diet, contact us and we can check the available product information with our supplier before you order.
How long does it take to notice anything?
No timeframe is stated for this product, and nothing about it is designed to produce a sudden change you would feel. It is a daily nutritional supplement taken with food alongside a normal diet, and one pack covers 30 days at the directed dose. Results vary between individuals.
How much does NeoLife PhytoDefence cost, and how do I order?
The current price for the 30-sachet pack is shown at the top of this page in Nigerian naira, with international currency options available at checkout. Add it to your basket to order online, with same-day delivery in Lagos and Abuja, Payment on Delivery within Nigeria, and DHL Express delivery internationally.
Where can I buy PhytoDefence, and does Recs-Medix ship internationally?
Order online from this page. Within Nigeria we deliver nationwide with Payment on Delivery, and same-day in Lagos and Abuja. Internationally we ship by DHL Express to the USA, the UK, Canada, the EU and Australia, dispatched from our Lagos stock in its sealed NeoLife pack. Customs rules on food supplements vary, so check your own import rules if you are ordering from outside Nigeria.
