What the Carton Says It Does
Both side panels print the same six statements. These are the manufacturer’s own words, reproduced here as label information:
- Fight tooth sensitivity
- Remove dental plaque
- Strengthen tooth enamel
- Strengthen teeth
- Fresh breath
- Protect gum
The back panel also carries a paragraph of manufacturer text about bacteria in the digestive tract. We have not reproduced it, because this is a toothpaste rather than a digestive product, and a stomach or gut concern is a matter for a doctor.
Full Ingredient List, Straight From the Tube
Twenty-one ingredients are printed on the back panel, in this order: sorbitol, propanediol, glycerin, xanthan gum, carboxymethyl cellulose, water, soybean polypeptide, saccharin sodium, benzyl alcohol, sodium bicarbonate, strontium chloride, honeysuckle flower extract, whitefish extract, sodium monofluorophosphate, silicon dioxide, calcium carbonate, ammonium dodecyl sulfate, edible essence, menthol, menthyl lactate, lithium magnesium silicate.
Cleaning and polishing
Silicon dioxide and calcium carbonate are the abrasives. Ammonium dodecyl sulfate is the foaming agent, and sodium bicarbonate is a mild alkaline cleaner.
Enamel, sensitivity and gum ingredients
Sodium monofluorophosphate is the fluoride source. Strontium chloride is an ingredient widely used in toothpastes formulated for sensitive teeth. Honeysuckle flower extract, soybean polypeptide and whitefish extract are the botanical and protein-derived additions in the formula.
Texture and moisture
Sorbitol, glycerin and propanediol keep the paste from drying out. Xanthan gum, carboxymethyl cellulose and lithium magnesium silicate hold it at the right consistency.
Flavour, sweetener and preservative
Menthol and menthyl lactate give the cooling mint character, alongside the unspecified “edible essence”. Saccharin sodium is the sweetener and benzyl alcohol is the preservative.
Two things to note from the list. Aloe vera is not among the ingredients, so “Mint Aloe” on the front of the pack is a flavour name. And the list does not name a probiotic culture or strain, which is covered in the questions below.

How to Use It
The carton marks this paste for night-time use, so use it last thing before bed as printed. Brush with a pea-sized amount for around two minutes, covering every surface of every tooth, then spit out the excess.
As general oral-care guidance rather than pack instruction, the NHS advises against rinsing with water or mouthwash immediately after brushing, since rinsing washes away the fluoride left on the teeth. Use mouthwash at a different time of day instead.
A 150g tube used once nightly will last a good while, though how long depends entirely on how much paste you use — treat any figure as a rough estimate rather than a guide to how much to buy.
Because this tube is marked for night use, Recs-Medix suggests pairing it with a separate morning paste such as Norland Herbal Toothpaste, the green 150g mint tube from the same brand. That pairing is our own suggestion for a two-tube routine, not a manufacturer instruction.
Allergens, Fluoride and Who Should Take Care
This paste contains fluoride. Sodium monofluorophosphate is a fluoride compound, and the NHS notes that fluoride is added to toothpaste because it helps prevent tooth decay. If you have been advised to avoid fluoride, or you are choosing a paste for a young child, this matters — particularly as the carton does not print a fluoride concentration. The NHS publishes age-by-age guidance on fluoride toothpaste amounts. Young children should be supervised so that paste is spat out rather than swallowed.
It contains soy and fish-derived ingredients. Soybean polypeptide is soy protein and whitefish extract is derived from fish. If you have a soy or fish allergy, or a sensitivity to either, avoid this paste or speak to a pharmacist first. The same two ingredients mean it is not suitable for vegetarians or vegans.
Stop using it and speak to a dentist or pharmacist if you notice mouth irritation, a burning sensation, gum soreness or any reaction after brushing.
Two limits worth stating plainly. This product does not replace a dental appointment — bleeding gums, ongoing sensitivity or persistent bad breath need a dentist, because a toothpaste cannot diagnose the cause. And it works on surface stain only through gentle abrasion; it does not bleach or change the natural colour of your teeth.
Checking the Pack When It Arrives
It is worth looking over any toothpaste carton when it reaches you. The end flap should show a batch number, a production date and an expiry date, along with the NAFDAC registration number A2-100544. The back panel should carry the full twenty-one ingredient list, the Jilin manufacturing address and the Norland distributor line, and the Norland crest appears on both the front and back panels. Check that the carton is intact, the tube is sealed and the expiry date is well ahead.

Is Norland Vital Probiotics Toothpaste fluoride-free?
No. Sodium monofluorophosphate is printed on the ingredient list, so this is a fluoride toothpaste. Any listing describing it as fluoride-free is incorrect. The carton does not state the fluoride concentration.
Does it contain live probiotics?
The printed ingredient list does not name a live culture or a probiotic strain. The soy-derived soybean polypeptide is the ingredient closest to the descriptor on the front of the pack. We can only tell you what the label states.
Is it suitable for vegetarians or vegans?
