Norland Natural Beta-Carotene Capsules are a single-nutrient supplement sold under the Vita Source pack line and distributed by Beijing Norland International Trading Co., Ltd. Each 0.5g capsule contains 2.57mg of beta-carotene, the plant pigment the body converts into vitamin A. The bottle is registered with NAFDAC under A7-100083, and the pack states one function: to supplement beta-carotene. It comes in a 30-capsule (15g) and a 60-capsule (30g) bottle, and sits in our targeted nutrients range.
Allergen information: Contains peanut oil. Do not use if you have a peanut allergy. The capsule shell contains gelatin, so the product is not suitable for vegetarians or vegans. Full details are in the ingredients section below.
What are Natural Beta-Carotene Capsules used for?
Beta-carotene is the orange pigment in carrots, sweet potatoes, pumpkin and dark leafy greens. It is a provitamin: the body converts it into vitamin A as needed, and that conversion is regulated rather than automatic.
The healthcare function printed on this bottle is “Supplement β-carotene”, and the group named is “adults that need to supplement β-carotene”. That is the whole of what the manufacturer claims. This is a dietary supplement, not a medicine — it is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease, and it does not replace a varied diet or treatment prescribed by a doctor.
How much vitamin A one capsule provides
Under the conversion used in UK and EU food labelling, six micrograms of beta-carotene counts as one microgram of vitamin A. One 2.57mg capsule therefore supplies roughly 430µg of vitamin A — about 54% of the 800µg nutrient reference value (NRV); two capsules supply roughly 860µg, about 107%.
A food may carry an authorised vitamin A statement if a daily portion provides at least 15% of the NRV, and this product clears that several times over at a single capsule. The statements below are drawn from the permitted list in Commission Regulation (EU) No 432/2012, and they describe the nutrient rather than this brand.
Benefits of Norland Natural Beta-Carotene Capsules
- Skin. Vitamin A contributes to the maintenance of normal skin — the reason this product also appears in our glowing skin support range.
- Vision. Vitamin A contributes to the maintenance of normal vision.
- Mucous membranes. Vitamin A contributes to the maintenance of normal mucous membranes.
- Immune function. Vitamin A contributes to the normal function of the immune system.
- Iron metabolism. Vitamin A contributes to normal iron metabolism.
- A measured dose. The labelled 1–2 capsules supply 2.57–5.14mg of beta-carotene a day, below the 7mg ceiling the NHS advises for supplements.
Ingredients and allergen information
The bottle lists the full composition: β-carotene, peanut salad oil, gelatin, glycerin, sugar syrup and water. Gelatin, glycerin and water form the capsule shell. Three points are important:
- Peanut. Peanut is a major allergen, and peanut allergy can be severe. Do not use this product if you have a peanut allergy. If you are unsure, speak to your doctor or pharmacist before ordering.
- Gelatin. The pack does not state the animal source, and no halal certification mark is visible on the supplied packaging. If either matters to you, contact us before ordering and we will tell you what we hold in writing from the distributor.
- Sugar syrup. The amount per capsule is not printed. Anyone managing blood sugar should know that it is listed as an ingredient.
Who these capsules are for, and who should avoid them
The pack names adults who want to supplement beta-carotene, and nobody else. Do not take this product, or speak to a healthcare professional first, if you:
- Have a peanut allergy. See the ingredients section above.
- Smoke, used to smoke, or have been exposed to asbestos at work. High-dose beta-carotene supplements have been linked to more lung cancers in these groups. The doses involved were far above what this bottle delivers, but it is a decision for your doctor — see the FAQ below.
- Already take a multivitamin, a vitamin A supplement or another beta-carotene product. The label warns against taking it with similar nutrient supplements, and two capsules already use around three-quarters of the daily allowance the NHS advises.
- Are pregnant, breastfeeding or taking prescription medication. The pack gives no guidance for these groups, and a label’s silence is not clearance. Ask a doctor or pharmacist first.
This is not a children’s supplement. Ask a doctor or pharmacist before giving it to anyone under 18.
How to take it, and how long a bottle lasts
The suggested usage printed on the bottle is 1 to 2 capsules, once a day, and should not be exceeded. The label gives no instruction about timing relative to meals. At that dosage a 30-capsule bottle lasts 15 to 30 days and a 60-capsule bottle 30 to 60 days.
Do not exceed the manufacturer’s stated dosage of 1–2 capsules once daily. Results vary, and the manufacturer gives no expected timeframe for any effect.
What this product does not do
- It is not a cancer treatment or preventative. Beta-carotene supplements have no established role in preventing or treating cancer.
- It is not a treatment for eye, heart, gall bladder, respiratory or fertility conditions, and it is not a pregnancy supplement. Vitamin A contributing to normal vision does not mean it treats eye disease.
- It is not a replacement for medical care or a balanced diet. Follow professional advice for treatment. Stop taking it and seek advice if you feel unwell.
Storage, authenticity and delivery
Store the bottle in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and out of reach of children. Shelf life is 24 months from manufacture.
On arrival, check the seal is intact, that the front carries the Vita Source mark and the net content for your pack size, that the side panel shows a batch number with manufacture and expiry dates, and that NAFDAC A7-100083 is printed. Packaging alone is not proof of authenticity, since counterfeit packaging can imitate all of it — but a bottle missing any of it is worth querying with us first. Our full Norland range is stocked on the same basis.
Recs-Medix has traded since 2017 and stocks this product in our Lagos and Abuja stores as well as online. Payment on Delivery is available within Nigeria. Nationwide delivery typically takes 1–3 business days, same-day in Lagos and Abuja where available, and international orders ship by DHL Express — timelines are on our shipping and delivery page.

Frequently asked questions
What are the benefits of beta-carotene capsules?
The body converts beta-carotene into vitamin A, and vitamin A contributes to normal skin, normal vision, normal mucous membranes, normal immune function and normal iron metabolism. Beta-carotene itself carries no separate authorised health claim in the UK or EU, so any benefit here rests on the vitamin A it provides.
Is it safe to take beta-carotene every day?
The NHS advises not taking more than 7mg of beta-carotene supplements a day unless a doctor tells you otherwise. At the labelled 1–2 capsules this product supplies 2.57–5.14mg, within that. The figure to watch is your total across everything you take: a multivitamin or vitamin A supplement alongside this one can push you over, which is what the label’s precaution about “similar nutrient supplements” is warning against.
Can I take these capsules if I smoke, or used to smoke?
Ask your doctor first. High-dose beta-carotene supplements have been linked to increased lung-cancer risk in heavy smokers and asbestos-exposed workers. The studied doses were 20mg and 30mg a day, higher than this product’s labelled dosage, but the decision should be made with a clinician who knows your history.
Does this product contain peanut?
Yes. Peanut salad oil is one of the six listed ingredients. Anyone with a peanut allergy should not take these capsules.
How long does it take for a beta-carotene supplement to work?
The manufacturer gives no expected timeframe. Beta-carotene is a nutrient rather than a treatment: it contributes to normal function in a body that has enough of it, which is not the same as producing a noticeable change on a schedule. Individual experiences differ.
What is the difference between the 30-capsule and 60-capsule pack?
Only the quantity. Both carry the same 0.5g capsules at 2.57mg of beta-carotene each, the same six ingredients and the same NAFDAC number. The 30-capsule bottle holds 15g net and lasts 15–30 days at the labelled dosage; the 60-capsule bottle holds 30g and lasts 30–60 days.
Natural Beta-Carotene Capsules are a dietary supplement, not a medicine. Consult a qualified healthcare professional before use if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, taking prescription medication or managing a health condition. The NAFDAC registration number above can be verified independently through NAFDAC.
