What These Capsules Are Labelled For
The manufacturer prints one function and one suitability line, and both are narrow: the healthcare function reads “Provide auxiliary protections to chemical liver injuries”, and the product is suitable for “People with risks of chemical liver injuries”. In plain English, this is supplementary support for a liver under chemical load. The word auxiliary is the manufacturer’s own, and the pack states directly that the product cannot replace medicine.
Key Points
- Schisandra leads the formula, and the pack quantifies two of its markers — total flavonoids and deoxyschizandrin — rather than hiding behind a proprietary blend.
- L-cysteine is included — a sulphur-containing amino acid the body draws on when making glutathione. General biochemistry rather than a claim for this product, but it explains the ingredient’s presence in a liver formula.
- Registered with NAFDAC for sale in Nigeria under A7-2903.
- Two capsules a day, no timing rules. A 60-capsule bottle covers 30 days at the labelled usage; a 30-capsule bottle covers 15.
Is This the Same as Norland Healthway Capsules?
No — and the difference is one word.
Norland Healthway Herbal Capsules is the product on this page: a liver support formula, NAFDAC A7-2903. Norland Healthway Capsules, without “Herbal”, is a separate product in the Norland range aimed at blood sugar, and it carries its own registration number and its own formula.
Both are widely nicknamed “Hypoglycemic” — this liver product as Health Way Hypoglycemic Herbal Capsules, the blood-sugar one as Health Way Hypoglycemic Capsules — so the two get merged across a great many storefronts.
The bottle we stock and photograph is the liver product. It carries no blood-sugar function statement and nothing on its label supporting use in diabetes. If blood-sugar support is what you need, this is not the right product — and speak to your doctor before adding any supplement to diabetes treatment.
What Is Actually Inside the Capsule
The full ingredient list, transcribed from the back panel in the order printed:
Schisandra extract, pueraria extract, soybean lecithin, L-cysteine, thiamine hydrochloride, soybean salad oil, hydrogenated oil, beeswax, gelatin, glycerin, brown iron oxide, and distilled water.
Schisandra extract (Schisandra chinensis) heads the list and is the source of the two markers the pack quantifies. Pueraria extract is kudzu root; soybean lecithin and soybean salad oil form the carrier base; gelatin and glycerin form the shell; brown iron oxide is a colour and beeswax a suspension agent. Thiamine hydrochloride is a form of vitamin B1, but the pack states no amount for it — so we make no vitamin B1 claim here, since the authorised international claims for thiamine all require a stated quantity.

How to Take It
One capsule, twice a day, swallowed with water. The label sets no instruction about food. The 30-capsule bottle lasts 15 days at that usage; the 60-capsule bottle lasts 30. The pack gives no recommended course length, so we do not publish one — if you are considering long-term use, that is a conversation for your doctor or pharmacist.
Allergens and Who Should Avoid This Product
- Soy, twice over. Both soybean lecithin and soybean salad oil are in the formula. Anyone with a soy allergy should avoid this product.
- Beeswax. The label’s own precaution advises caution for people allergic to bee products.
- Gelatin shell — not vegetarian or vegan. The gelatin source is not stated on the pack, and there is no halal or kosher mark, so customers who require confirmed halal, kosher or animal-source information should not assume suitability.
The pack carries a printed warning that the capsules are not to be taken by pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers or infants. Beyond the label, our own guidance: if you take prescription medication, have a diagnosed liver condition, or are due surgery, speak to your doctor before starting. Keep out of the reach of children.
What This Product Does Not Do
Several claims commonly attached to this product online — including on our own previous version of this page — are not supported by the bottle, and we have removed them.
- It does not lower blood sugar. Despite the “Hypoglycemic” name it is widely sold under, nothing on this label supports a blood-sugar function.
- It does not lower cholesterol, boost metabolism or regenerate cells. No such function is printed anywhere on the pack.
- It is not an immune, digestion or mental-clarity product.
- It is not “all-natural” or free of colours and processing aids — the list includes brown iron oxide as a colour and a hydrogenated oil.
- It does not treat, cure or prevent liver disease, and the manufacturer states plainly that it cannot replace medicine.
Seek medical assessment for persistent or concerning symptoms rather than relying on a supplement. The NHS guidance on liver disease sets out the signs to watch for and when to seek help.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are Healthway Herbal Capsules and Health Way Hypoglycemic Herbal Capsules the same thing?
Yes — that is the alternative name this same bottle is sold and invoiced under. The “Hypoglycemic” part is misleading: the label on this product states a liver function, not a blood-sugar one.
Do these capsules lower blood sugar?
No. The label states one function and it concerns the liver. Norland’s blood-sugar product is a different item — Healthway Capsules, without “Herbal” in the name. If you are managing diabetes, speak to your doctor before adding any supplement to your treatment.
How many capsules should I take a day?
One capsule, twice a day — two daily in total. The precautions advise against exceeding the recommended usage.
How long does one bottle last?
At the labelled usage, the 30-capsule bottle lasts 15 days and the 60-capsule bottle lasts 30 days.
Is this suitable for vegetarians or vegans?
No. The capsule shell is gelatin, which is animal-derived. The pack does not state the source and carries no halal or kosher certification mark.
Can I take it while pregnant or breastfeeding?
No. The bottle carries a printed warning that it is not to be taken by pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers or infants.
Is the product NAFDAC registered?
Yes — A7-2903, printed on the side panel, and you are welcome to verify it independently with NAFDAC. A registration number confirms the product is registered for sale in Nigeria; it is not an endorsement of any health claim.
